This LTN was driven by anti-car ideology

• FURTHER to the correspondence you have recently published concerning low traffic schemes, the Lofting Road LTN is a perfect example of an ill-conceived scheme.

The benefits claimed are enjoyed by a limited number of individuals, for a brief moment of time twice a day, and this only in term time.

Meanwhile the disbenefits are experienced by all residents – and this for the whole year round, that is, not just in the two exclusion periods.

The disbenefits comprise: – concentrated pollution, and sometimes noise pollution, from the many vehicles which, having confronted the exclusion notices, decelerate, idle, reverse and then reaccelerate; – an obtrusive and unattractive array of masts, notices, ugly detection apparatus, and lighting – this has destroyed much of the general amenity of this highly admired conservation area (the first in London).

This LTN should be dismantled forthwith, without waiting for the full public consultation.

It is clear that the introduction of this LTN was driven by fashionable anti-car ideology rather than by careful consideration of the local situation as a whole.
