Man, 21, charged with murder of Islington florist Tony Eastlake

Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of Tony Eastlake have charged a man with murder today (Wednesday).

James Peppiatt, 21, of Elmore Street, has been remanded in custody to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 3, to face the charge.

Police were called at about 5:30pm on Saturday to reports of an injured man on Essex Road.

Officers attended along with paramedics and provided first aid. Tony was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday night a vigil was held with scores of Tony’s friends and family paying tribute to the 55-year-old who has sold flowers from a stall in Essex Road since he was 14.
