Town Hall extends leisure centres bailout
Eight centres in the borough were forced to close during lockdown

THE Town Hall has extended the bailout of its leisure centre provider.
GLL runs eight centres in the borough that were forced to close last year due to the lockdown, including the Sobell Centre.
The council says it will continue to support GLL until the lockdown is eased. It is expected gyms and indoor sports could open from April 12.
It is thought that the gyms will operate at a 30 per cent capacity when restrictions are first lifted and are not expected to reach normal levels of attendance until next year.
The lack of income has meant the Town Hall agreed a package of financial support to keep it afloat. GLL has put staff on furlough and are due to be back to work in April.
Rent collection of £1.2m was put on hold last year after GLL approached the council for help.
