Whitecross Festival

Islington mayor Troy Gallagher, Mary Roberts, Cllr Phil Graham and Cllr Valerie Bossman-Quarshie

DECEMBER is finally here and Christmas is in the air: last Friday the community gathered in Whitecross Street to welcome in the festive season.

Strings of glittering lights transformed the historic market street. Mayor of Islington Troy Gallagher flicked the switch, illuminating the trees, shops and market stalls.

The mayor was joined by Bunhill councillors Phil Graham and Valerie Bossman-Quarshie to celebrate with mince pies and festive tunes, with school choirs performing classic Christmas hits.

Delighted children were invited to have their faces painted and meet Santa in his grotto.

Cllr Bossman-Quarshie said: “Well organised and a lovely friendly atmosphere, rain held off although nippy. A big thanks to the Bunhill residents who made today memorable.”
