Whittington Hospital
• REGARDING the staffing of the diabetes nursing post at the Whittington Hospital (One success in defending the NHS, February 14), we are pleased that there has been a misunderstanding about the continuation of this post.
Defend the Whittington Hospital Coalition holds regular meetings with the senior management of the Whittington Hospital. At our most recent meeting last week we were informed that there had been a mix-up in the application process for this role.
So the person who has retired will stay in post until her successor is appointed. It is good to note that our hospital recognises the current and increasing demand for diabetic care.
The current issues that concern us about our hospital relate to the lack of feedback regarding Grenfell Tower contractors Rydon suing our hospital for £14million. The court case was held in December and still there is no outcome.
Another concern is the proposal for the new estate strategy. While we want new developments, like a spanking new maternity ward, we are worried that the whole massive scheme for other developments will involve selling off parts of the estate in order to finance the redevelopment.
We need to watch this space. So we are monitoring the progress of the strategy.
