MAJOR travel disruption is coming to Highbury Grove with Thames Water preparing to replace a large stretch of pipes.
The No 19 and No 4 bus routes will be diverted for 15 weeks of planned works between Baalbec Road and Kelvin Road.
Residents say they have been told that work the will start on July 21.
Highbury ward councillor Benali Hamdache said: “There have been a number of leaks and water across Highbury for a number of years.
“Pipes have burst and people have been left without water, so now the entire water piping down Highbury Grove is going to be replaced.”
Cllr Hamdache said there was still “a lot of uncertainty” about how Transport for London plans to respond to the road closures, following a meeting this week.
He added: “We’ll work hard to make sure there will be another opportunity for residents to get answers to their questions and engage with Thames Water and the council.”
The Tribune understands that the works are part of a Thames Water project to upgrade and future-proof the network.
Works will begin this summer, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
