‘The aim to ‘be fair to all’, has now changed to ‘for a more equal future’!’

• THE London Borough of Islington claim to be cash-strapped, but maybe instead of demanding more of our money they should spend within their income.

The aim to “be fair to all”, has now changed to “for a more equal future”! This shows the goalposts moving with diluted care, consideration, or due diligence.

For example:

— The road sweepers are being used on the pavements, causing significant damage, as these machines are designed for roads and weigh three tonnes, while another machine, designed for pavements, weighs 1.5 tonnes.

Despite complaints, this continues to happen, therefore increasing the risk of people falling over and injury claims, while some have life-changing consequences.

— Cycle lanes have been regularly gritted, three times on some days, while zebra crossings, junctions and pavements are ignored.

— Street lighting has been enhanced to LED, at a staggering cost.

— Repairs are repeatedly done, but not done to any standard, therefore repeated visits and wasted materials.

— Senior council managers’ wages are in excess of £120,000 and the chief executive’s salary in excess of £190,000.

— Cycle lanes and road closures continue without efficient consultation.

— Pavements are not repaired, while the council wants more people to walk!

We can see our money is being spent like water.
