We must overturn park festival deal

Friday, 25th January 2019

• OF course the Wireless licence settlement has to be appealed, (Wireless festival lives to play another day, January 10).

It is an appalling capitulation to promoter interests and a betrayal of the local people who supported tougher controls on the event.

It is a new low for even Haringey to go against a democratic licence review decision made by a three-councillor panel in public.

This behind-closed-doors decision shows the council is more concerned with appeasing private companies than representing the public interest.

The Friends of Finsbury Park have to get this deal overturned, and continue to work with people from the three affected boroughs to stop the mega-events damaging the park and blighting people’s lives.
