POLICE are urging anyone with information on a double murder case to come forward.
There have been four arrests since Thursday and one man, Abel Chunda, 27, has been charged with two counts of murder, one of attempted murder and another of possession of an offensive weapon.
A 46-year-old man arrested over the weekend has been released with no further action due to take place.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy was held by police earlier this week and has been released on bail, and another man, 26, was in custody and being questioned yesterday (Thursday).
Police are still urging people who might help the investigation to come forward.
Borough Commander Chief Superintendent Andy Carter, Islington’s most senior officer, said: “The detectives in this case have worked at a real pace to get us to where we are, but there is still more to do, and we need the community’s help with that.”
He added: “We know that there were residents who may have witnessed the incident who have yet to come forward. What I would say to them is, firstly, that everyone in this borough must stand together against violence.
“Secondly, consider for a moment if it was a member of your family, and how these families are suffering. You may be scared, but let me reassure you that we can speak to you in confidence. Just pick up the phone.”
Ch Supt Carter also encouraged people to speak to local officers.
He said: “I know the community is shocked, and we stand by them grieving too. We are committed to establishing the full circumstances of what happened and to do everything we can to ensure there is justice for the families.”
Head of community policing in Islington, Superintendent Jack May-Robinson, who gave details of the case in a statement to TV cameras on Friday, said: “Whatever small little scrap of information someone may have – it could be the key difference for us being able to bring the defendants to justice and try to bring some solace to the family members, as much as you can in such circumstances.”
