We need decent spaces to live in
Friday, 5th June 2020
• I HOPE all planning applications for housing currently going through the Town Hall are freshly scrutinised so that we can learn from the pandemic.
First meagrely proportioned rooms in dwellings – the mad drive for profits would have us all living in rabbit hutches if it is allowed to continue. Being isolated has brought home our lack of space big time.
Second, high-rise blocks, accessible only by one or two lifts, should not be allowed any more. Even if there are no further pandemics (unlikely) at least our descendants should be bequeathed decent space to live their lives in.
