‘Our houses shake when bigger vehicles come down the road’

• RESIDENTS in Offord Road, N1, have come together to say we need to fix the heavy traffic on our street.

With the rise of navigation apps, Offord Road has become a major rat-run for cars and larger commercial vehicles crossing Islington. It’s a narrow side road, with narrow pavements, lined almost entirely with houses and flats.

Our houses shake when bigger vehicles come down the road, at speed, and you can hear car horns and loud engines from dawn until dusk.

Many local families have started walking and cycling to the four nearby schools, but they have to mix dangerously between the parked cars and the traffic.

We are enthusiastic about the people-friendly streets schemes that have been implemented, and support bringing the scheme to Barnsbury.
