We need to reduce air pollution

• EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinion but it’s irresponsible to make apparently factual statements which are contrary to the bulk of current evidence.
We here at Low Traffic Islington provide sources for all FAQs about LTNs (https://barnsburystmarys2020.ghost.io/faqs/).
If, in her letter, Wendy Davis (Pollution here is now worse, July 9) had merely written that she doesn’t like the LTNs in Waltham Forest I would not have felt called to write, but she makes a number of unsubstantiated claims.
Quoting sources can be tedious so I will cover just one.
Far from being the second most polluted London borough, in March this year, Waltham Forest was actually assessed as being in the group of the 10 least polluted boroughs (www.theecoexperts.co.uk/blog/most-polluted-london-boroughs-).
That is a significant achievement given that Waltham Forest has the A406, A12, etc, carrying traffic which LTNs can do little about.
Reducing traffic in residential areas helps reduce pollution where many of us spend much of our time. And air pollution needs to be reduced. I’m sure we can all agree on that.
