AT the end of his famous reign at Arsenal, fans were either “Wenger In” or “Wenger Out”.

Whichever side you took, the Gunners legend is here to stay at the Emirates Stadium after a statue was installed on the concourse on Friday.

The three-times Premier League winner went down in history as the only manager to win the crown without losing a single match in 2004, and has already been given the Freedom of Islington by the council. Wenger had the chance to see the statue as a guest at Arsenal’s pre-season friendly against Monaco on Wednesday evening.

It is made of bronze, weighing approximately half a ton, and is 3.5 metres high – and joins figures of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Tony Adams already standing outside the ground.

Current Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said: “It’s such a great tribute that the club has done something special for Arsène that he fully deserves and merits.

“With a statue now at the stadium, Arsène can have that recognition and be here at our club forever.

“I’m so grateful to have played for Arsène at this club in my career. He chose me to be one of his players and selected me to be the captain of the club and that’s something I will never forget.”
