What does Islington know the government does not?

• WHILE government guidelines suggest that “outdoor and indoor markets, which offer essential retail, such as grocery and food” should still be allowed to operate in the current lockdown, Islington Council seems to know better.

Without rhyme or reason the council suggests it can “guarantee” their residents’ safety by closing down affordable veg and fruit street markets (like Cam & Keith’s stall outside the Enkel Arms pub that have undertaken unambiguous social distancing measures) making people queue for hours on narrow pavements to use supermarkets or smaller indoor shops.

It has made us wonder what logic the council is adopting in this crisis where accessible and affordable fruit and veg may never have been as important.

It also has made us wonder when Islington Council became a public health expert?
