• I WAS fascinated to read of Islington’s ambition to make Clerkenwell Road/Old Street a traffic-free corridor. Great, but where is east-west traffic supposed to go?

To the south, the City has already closed Bank junction to most vehicles and is trying to further reduce through traffic and associated air pollution.

To the north, there is no alternative route except Pentonville Road/City Road, or is Islington going to close that too?
