Whittington not to blame for my father’s long wait in A&E

George Durack (centre) was made a freeman of the borough in 2015
• AS your front-page article stated, my father, George Durack, spent a long time in A&E (Pensioner in 9-hour wait for NHS bed, March 16).
All during that period, despite the staff being run ragged, he was under observation, being treated and being made as comfortable as possible. He was then transferred to a ward, and from there into the intensive care unit. The staff in ICU were fantastic. He was even given an iPad.
He was then transferred to a general ward, where again his treatment was very good, despite staff shortages. He has since been transferred to a cardiac ward, where the very good treatment continues.
I would like to make the point that, despite the horrendous cuts the Tories have made to the NHS, despite terrible staff shortages, despite staff being practically dead on their feet, the service he has had (and continues to have) is second to none.
No blame whatsoever should be laid at the door of the Whittington Hospital.
