Who will benefit from this scheme?

• ON September 29 and October 13 you published letters from the same person extolling the benefits of the St Peter’s LTN, low traffic neighbourhood, and urging residents in the proposed Barnsbury/Laycock LN, liveable neighbourhood, to support Islington Council’s proposals.
The available evidence shows that LTNs/LNs differ and that the effects on roads within a given LTN/LN and on boundary roads also differ. The experience in the St Peter’s area is therefore irrelevant to Barnsbury/ Laycock.
As someone who has cycled through the Barnsbury/Laycock area every working day, for nearly 30 years, I do not understand how the council can possibly believe that its proposals will benefit anyone, whether cyclist or pedestrian, not least because it proposes forcing traffic onto the very roads that already carry the most traffic (primarily Liverpool Road).
