Why don’t they house people in empty properties?

Two blocks made up of 28 flats next to Pentonville Prison have stood empty for years
• A RESPONSE to the Islington Tribune front page (Developers in line for prison land, April 16) – if Islington Council want to house families on their waiting list, why don’t they refurbish some of the empty properties they own?
I found a list of more than 100 of them, issued in November 2020 in reply to a Freedom of Information enquiry from James Bayley.
The council have declared a climate emergency. Refitting is a low carbon option. Reduce, reuse, recycle.
If readers want to see where these properties are, the list is at www.whatdotheyknow.com in the file FOI499618.docx. All the properties had been empty for more than six months.
