Why have there been so few jabs in the borough?

‘Lagging vaccination position is Islington and a number of other London boroughs’

• THERE is considerable talk of a further spike in Covid-19 infection rates when schools go back next month, but much less concern about the lagging vaccination position is Islington and a number of other London boroughs.

When ITV News reported, at August 7, that Islington figures showed that 61.4 per cent of the adult population had received the first vaccination and 45.8 per cent the second, this was well below the average in each case – and ranked 25th and 28th respectively of the 32 boroughs.

The GLA website show that as of the week ending August 11, Islington was 11th in terms of the most new cases (297 per 100,000). So pursuing vaccination improvement seems important.

If there are special factors which cause the low results it would be good to know what they are. Also it would be good to know the steps the council and local NHS authorities are taking to make our resistance as strong as possible.
