• WHAT on earth is all this fuss about Angel Wings? A bloated statue that wouldn’t be old enough to sit GCSEs is not the main attraction of the Angel (Must our Angel Wings fly away? March 9).

Those of us who remember the lovely French restaurant and the excellent stationers will confirm that there was life at Angel before the Wings were dumped on us from on high.

The N1 Centre is looking a bit tatty after 15 years and needs a bit of tlc. The plans I have seen would bring more people to the area, probably create some jobs for local teens – I used to work at Woolworths at Angel, remember that store? – and benefit the market.

Seriously though, let’s not stand in the way of change. I’d be happy to bet that the people moaning most about protecting a second-rate statue were opposed to the building of the centre 15 years ago. Do something positive with your time.
