A STRONGMAN from Holloway has achieved a world record after spending 90 days carrying weights as heavy as a Bengal tiger.
Mehmet Musa completed the challenge at Energy Fitness Highbury over three months and has now set his sights on competing further afield. The 32-year-old did a 300kg farmer’s walk for 60 days in a row, followed by 30 days of doing a 220kg squat.
“I set out to do the 60 consecutive days of the farmer’s walk, but towards the end of the challenge, it was just feeling every day like a warm-up”, said Mr Musa. “I wanted to test my capabilities. I always wanted to go further and do more.”

The super-strength athlete took up the sport six years ago and has now embarked on a career break to focus on preparing for strongman competitions.
Mr Musa said: “My dad says it’s time, that I need to compete now. I’ve always been strong, even as a kid. I started boxing age 15, my dad was a pro boxer. I went to the gym as young boys do and I fell in love with strength sports. I would never get tired like the other kids. When I was in school, around 15 or 16, my friends would go home and play video games, but my bedroom was all weights and a punch bag.” In preparation for pro-strength competitions, Mr Musa is continuing his training, which includes running with a 150kg sandbag that currently sits in his living room.
“My dad joked that wherever you put it, you have to leave it because no one is going to pick it up apart from you”, the strongman added.
