Sir Keir Starmer
• YOUR correspondent Neil Kerr has chosen a strange time to join the Labour Party, unless he has an appetite for hostile environments, (I’ve now joined Labour – at age 78, October 8).
He cites Sir Keir Starmer’s moral compass as a primary reason. I’m afraid that Sir Keir is in more dire need of a compass than anyone else in recent history.
He is certainly not renowned for his orienteering skills, he steers right instead of left, he conflates red and blue and he seems very confused about which side of the chamber he should speak from.
And if anyone seriously believes that the general public will rush to elect this transitory leader then they can’t have seen the video clip of him dismissing a young Green New Deal campaigner in Brighton.
