Don’t blame the cycling lobby for reckless riders

Friday, 21st January 2022

• THE letter from Michael Edenborough (There are cyclists behaving badly, January 14) gives two examples of hazards to pedestrians and ends with a suggestion that the cycling lobby should put its own house in order.

Reckless cyclists are also a hazard to other cyclists. The cycling lobby supporters are usually law-abiding and they concentrate on altering the roads to get cyclists more protection from motor vehicles.

Road traffic enforcement in relation to cyclists is a job for the police, not the cycling lobby.

The police have their two standard reasons for not doing this part of their work (insufficient resources and higher priorities) and politicians show no interest at present.

How about asking for advice from the MP for Islington South & Finsbury who is currently shadow attorney general.
