‘All that matters here is money and the people who have it’
• I LIVE in a property of one of the housing associations often mentioned in your pages and the “repairs service” is nothing less than incompetent.
They state in our residents’ handbook that they will “try and answer the phone in five rings”. You will most likely be number 16 in the queue. If you email them, you’ll never hear back.
So, yes, it would seem that (Nobody seems to care any more… Letters, January 14) and it terrifies me that when I’m really old this is how I’m going to be treated.
Ignored? That’s a rhetorical question because I know that is what it’s going to be like.
I’m a key worker, I work for the National Health Service and I see my patients and I see that that is exactly how they are treated by the council, by their housing associations, and by the NHS.
Growing old in this country is a terrifying prospect when you have no money. All that matters here is money and the people who have it.
