Jeremy Corbyn

• IT was interesting to read how Labour selects its council election candidates, from Kate Buffery, who has overseen the selection process and which she insists was above board and fair, (An ill-founded attack on the local Labour Party, March 11).

But the final line-up is heavily prejudiced in favour of the small wing of Islington Labour Party members who are still in denial about Jeremy Corbyn’s failed leadership of the party.

Their loyalty lies with him, and not with the Labour Party itself – something which
Ms Buffery can identify with and which calls into question the motives of those people who manage the local Labour Party.

Kate Buffery stood as a candidate against the Labour Party in the council elections in
2006 and campaigned to stop the very wonderful Cllr Janet Burgess being elected.

She was then happy to try to defeat an excellent Labour candidate – just like Jeremy Corbyn may decide to do at the next general election.
