Put up ‘no cycling’ signs immediately
Friday, 11th October 2019
• COUNCILLOR Caroline Russell expresses delight that “…it is now possible to cycle all round the junction, fully protected from the heavy traffic that still blights Highbury Corner”, (Thank-yous for the delivery of the Highbury Corner project, October 4).
What she, and no doubt the ribbon-cutting party, failed to see is that many cyclists are not cycling all round the junction – but choosing instead to cycle right through the widened western pedestrian area to get to the Holloway Road, causing danger to pedestrians, especially the elderly and young children.
This happens on a regular basis and certainly every time I walk there. Several elderly people have said to me how scared they now are. Remonstrating with these cyclists is no good: No Cycling signs need to be put up immediately and the area monitored.
