Keir Starmer

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer

• IF former councillor David Poyser is genuinely concerned about splitting the Labour Party then I can offer him some free advice: Labour simply needs to write off Islington North and focus on winning constituencies that do not already have an excellent MP, (Now is not the time for Labour to split, May 3).

If anybody is foolish enough to wear a red rosette and stand against Jeremy Corbyn they will be widely perceived as a traitor and anyone canvassing to dislodge our loyal and long-serving MP must accept they will be hugely unpopular and unwelcome.

This is not about Jeremy’s pride or feelings; it’s about putting the interests of the constituents first; and the last thing we need is an insult from the Labour dictatorship who think they can overrule our own judgments.

Mr Poyser has claimed Sir Keir Starmer has united the party. The only people he has united are an army of obedient clones who never question his revolving lies or policies.

They will be heavily outnumbered by the millions he has alienated or will continue to alienate if the Tories leave the door of 10 Downing Street wide open for him later this year.

If Jeremy stands as an independent nobody can accuse him of opposing Labour because he has made it abundantly clear he has wanted to continue as the Labour representative.

Sir Keir, in return, has sent clear messages that local people come a distant fourth after big businesses, the war machine and various lobbying groups. He is the chief architect of all divisions within the party.
