48 Seven Sisters Road
THE home of a prominent local homelessness outreach group in Finsbury Park is also on the chopping block following the Town Hall executive meeting last Thursday, which saw a scheme of asset disposals approved.
The council-owned commercial unit at 48 Seven Sisters Road was given to Streets Kitchen in 2022 as a “meanwhile use” – meaning the group was granted the space on the understanding that the arrangement would last until a permanent tenant, developer or buyer was found.
The grassroots group delivers food, essentials, clothing and information to people experiencing homelessness from its Seven Sisters Road “solidarity hub” and across locations in Islington, Camden, Hackney, Haringey, Tooting and Clapham.
It also used the unit on a temporary basis prior to moving in officially four years ago.
The council has assured that the property will not be sold until a new home for Streets Kitchen has been secured.
