A WOMAN remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition after a collision with a lorry in York Way on Tuesday.

Police were called at around 5pm to reports of a road traffic accident at the junction of Agar Grove. Officers, the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade attended and treated the pedestrian, a woman aged 60, at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 70-year-old man, stopped at the scene and is co-operating with the investigation.

The Tribune understands the woman was trapped underneath the vehicle following the collision. Witnesses said paramedics were giving her CPR.

A trolley containing bags of shopping was left close to the scene.

Elsa Poole, who works nearby, said: “There are a lot of trucks and traffic. The single lane for traffic is also very narrow. Recently, Brandon Road has become a one-way road and cars still try to get down there causing near accidents.”

The woman’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
