A PUB in Finsbury Park that has hosted gigs by the likes of Ed Sheeran and Mumford & Sons could be forced to stop playing live music altogether after a resident complained about the noise.

The World’s End in Finsbury Park is popular for live music and sport and is a match day favourite for Arsenal fans. But its managers will face questioning at the Town Hall next month after a noise complaint triggered a review of the pub’s licence.

Pending a vote by Islington’s licensing committee, the World’s End could be forced to close earlier and stop hosting live music and sports.

A spokesperson for The World’s End said: “Our pub is a much-loved venue that has been operating for many years.

“We remain committed to working constructively with our neighbours, local residents and the council to ensure we can continue to serve the local community.”

A council spokesperson said: “We aim to balance the interests of businesses with those of residents who may be affected by the activities of those businesses. We work with licensed premises to find solutions to issues that might arise.

“In the case of The World’s End, the application is still in the consultation period, and we are not at the stage where it is being considered by council members. The licensing review application was submitted by a local resident.”
