POLICE are appealing for information following the death of a 75-year-old woman who was killed during a botched burglary in Finsbury Park.
Police and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene after the “aggravated burglary”, where the woman was treated by paramedics and then taken to hospital, where she died the next day.
The Met said this week that a homicide investigation was continuing with pace, but no arrests had been made.
The woman’s 81-year-old husband was also taken to hospital with injuries, but was discharged the next day.
A crime scene remained in place for several days and police have called on anybody with information to come forward, as well as appealing to neighbours for door-cam footage and CCTV.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Massink, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with the woman’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time.
“We recognise the concern this will cause locally and can reassure the community that officers are working tirelessly to determine what happened.
“There will be an increased police presence in place while enquiries continue and we thank the public for their understanding at this time.”
Council leader Una O’Halloran paid tribute to the victim.
She said: “I can’t put into words my shock and sadness at the tragic death of a 75-year-old woman following a burglary at her own home.
“My thoughts and condolences are, of course, with her family, friends and loved ones. The borough stands with you at this unthinkably challenging time.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD7757/12AUG, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
